A slowly dying Iraqi lays on the street after being shot numerous times by soldiers. He was part of an RPG team that was firing on a patrol going through Karbala today

American soldiers from the 1/36 infantry, 1st A.D. were engaged in heavy fighting on the same short stretch or road where they conducted the operation over the last two nights. Patrols in the area have been coming under heavy fire, and in today's fighting alone, 20 Iraqi's loyal to Sadr were killed and a Fox news camera man, Peter Rudden, was lightly injured.

The operation, code named Iron Saber, was designed to root out members of the Mahdi Army, a militia of mostly slum dwellers loyal to firebrand cleric Muqtada Sadr, who is also high up on the American Armies wanted list.
